PAST UPDATES FROM 2013 and earlier:

- Summer 2013: Moeckel Pond Water Levels have been marked! See photos.
- HTE Northeast, the engineering company tasked with design of the Moeckel Pond Dam Reconstruction has made a recommendation for the water impoundment level of the reconstructed dam. Please see the detailed document including photos and plot, here. For best viewing, right-click on the link and click "save target as" and save it to your computer. - Sunday, April 28, 2013: ANNUAL VILLAGE DISTRICT MEETING
The 2013 Village District Annual Meeting was held on Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 2:00 PM in the training room at the Windham Fire Department. At this meeting, registered voters who are residents of the Village District voted on the warrant articles, including the budget, election of officers, and other items.

- Sunday, March 3, 2013: Budget Hearing
We held a public Budget Hearing to discuss the proposed 2013 Annual Budget for the Moeckel Pond Village District. The meeting was held at 2:00 PM in the training room at the Windham Fire Department. The Budget Hearing was for discussion purposes – we did not vote on any items at that time. Meeting Notes Here

- Friday, November 30, 2012: Moeckel Pond Becomes Public Conservation Land
Moeckel Pond, which had been privately owned for nearly 250 years, officially became public property held by the Windham Conservation Commission. Phase II can now begin. A notice has been given requesting qualified engineering firms to apply to make proposals for the design, permitting, and construction administration of the renovation of the dam.


- Thursday, April 19, 2012: Windham Conservation Commission Vote
The Windham Conservation Commission voted on whether to purchase Moeckel Pond, it's island, and it's access lot. They voted in favor of purchasing these areas.

-Sunday, April 15th, 2012: VILLAGE DISTRICT ANNUAL MEETING

The 2012 Village District Annual Meeting was held on Sunday, April 15th, 2012, at 2:00 PM in the training room at the Windham Fire Department. At this meeting, registered voters who are residents of the Village District voted on the warrant articles, including the budget, election of officers, and other items. A separate notice was sent before the annual meeting which included the full warrant, budget, and more details and information about the meeting.

- Sunday, March 4th, 2012: Budget Hearing
We will be holding a public Budget Hearing to discuss the proposed 2012 Annual Budget for the Moeckel Pond Village District. The meeting will be held at 2:00 PM in the training room at the Windham Fire Department. The Budget Hearing is for discussion purposes – we will not be voting on any items at that time. *Notes will be posted soon.

- February 18, 2012: Shoreline Protection Meeting
Jay Aube, the Shoreland Program Outreach Coordinator of the NH DES Wetlands Bureau, will be giving a local presentation on the Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act (SWQPA), formally the Comprehensive Shoreland Protection Act (CSPA). The CSPA was amended effective July 1, 2011, and the meeting will provide a thorough review of the changes.

- January 8, 2012: Commisioners Meeting
This meeting was held on Sunday Jan. 8th at 2:00 PM in the Training Room at the Windham Fire Department. The purpose was to prepare for the 2012 activities of the Village District. This meeting was open to the public, but the attendance of the Village District residents was not required.

-December 2011: Updates from The Friends of Moeckel Pond: In December they received their IRS Determiniation Letter establishing a 501(c)(3) and also mailed out their Final Giving Letter.

- October 2011: The restoration, preservation, and maintenance of Moeckel Dam is the focus of the Windham Endowment Environmental Subcommittee's partnership with the Town of Windham Conservation Commission, the Friends of Moeckel Pond, and our village district. Their website offers more information, as well as the opportunity to donate to the Windham Endowment's Environmental Fund for the benefit of the Moeckel Pond project.

- September 15, 2011: The village district meeting on September 15th at 7:00 PM at the Windham Library was changed to a voluntary informational meeting only. We did not vote on warrant articles or conduct any village district business. We had updates on the Village District activities coming up next year as well as an update from the Friends of Moeckel Pond.

- July 29, 2011: The Moeckel Pond Village District has received a letter of support from the Windham Fire Department for our efforts to restore Moeckel Pond. Please read this letter here. Moeckel Pond is an important water resource to allow the Windham Fire Department to effectively fight fires in our area, including Deer Leap.

- June 20, 2011: The Moeckel Pond Village District was established with a 16-8 vote at a special town meeting.
Six required officers were elected and are as follows:

Treasurer: Chris Vavra
Clerk: Kim Masse

- Early June 2011: A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between all of the parties cooperating to restore Moeckel Pond and the Moeckel Pond dam. Please take a moment to view this important document here. Also included is an estimate of a timeline for this process and a letter of support from the Windham Historic District / Heritage Commission.
